McKinley Princess Lodge Transportation

Q: Do you arrange transportation between Talkeetna and the McKinley Princess Lodge – if so, how much does is cost?

A: The McKinley Princess Lodge offers a scheduled shuttle service into Talkeetna which departs every two hours. The shuttle costs $10 roundtrip and you purchase this at the tour desk at the lodge. There is no need to purchase the shuttle in advance of your arrival. The last return from Talkeetna back to the lodge is at 9PM.

Rail Depot to Airport Transportation

Q: How far is the airport from the train station and what means of transportation would be the easiest to get there?

A: The railroad depot is located in downtown Anchorage about 7 miles from the airport. Taxis are readily available at the rail depot when the train arrives to take passengers to the airport. It is a 15 minute drive and taxi fare is approximately $25.

Kenai Fjords National Park

Q: Can you drive from Seward to the Kenai Fjords National Park or do you have to take a day Cruise?

A: Seward is the entrance of the Kenai Fjords National Park. A Fjord is an area of land that has been carved out by glaciers and filled with water. So in essence to truly see the Kenai Fjord National Park you would need to go on a boat cruise. See our Kenai Fjords cruises page for tour options.

Seward Luggage Storage

Q: We will arrive in Seward in the early morning via cruise ship and have reservations on the 6:00 p.m. train to Anchorage. Will we be able to check our luggage at the rail depot in the morning?

A: The Seward depot opens at 10:00 AM and you should be able to check luggage at that time as long as you are confirmed for the trip that evening. The ARR does not pick up luggage at the Seward pier so you will have to make your own arrangements to get the luggage from the pier to the depot.
