Alaska Halibut Fishing

Q: Is it possible to plan a halibut trip while on a land and sea cruise?

A: There are many great destinations for halibut fishing in Alaska. While on the cruise, halibut fishing is available in Juneau and Ketchikan. You can check the shore excursions offered by your cruise line for fishing trips that coordinate with the ships port schedule. While on the land portion of your trip, halibut fishing is available in Seward and Homer. We recommend the Seward Fish House. We do not book any halibut fishing excursions but Alaska Tour & Travel can create a land package that coordinates with your cruise and can include stays in Homer or Seward to accommodate the fishing trip.

Southeast Alaska Rail Options

Q: We are going to Icy Strait, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau and Ketchikan. Can we get a scenic train ride in any of these places?

A: There are no rail services or tours in those Southeast Alaska locations. Many cruises also visit Skagway. There is a rail excursion in Skagway called the White Pass Rail. Here’s a link to their website

Ididaride Tour Transportation

Q: We will be arriving by cruise ship in May and are wondering how to get from the terminal to the Wilderness Sled Dog Tour? Is there local transporation or taxi service?

A: The Ididaride Sled Dog Tour departs from the Seward Train Depot which is located about 5 minutes from the Cruise Ship Terminal. There is taxi service in Seward available from the Cruise Ship Terminal, cost would be about $10.00-$15.00.
